CONROE, Texas -- The Montgomery County Hospital District has been announced as a winner of the 2018 Platinum Safety Partner Award from Texas Mutual Workers’ Compensation Insurance for the second-consecutive year. MCHD is one of the only 200 recipients of this award out of the more than 46,000 policyholders in Texas.

The Platinum Safety Partner Award is given to companies or organizations that demonstrate a commitment to safety in the workplace by implementing an organized safety plan and effectively managing their workers’ compensation losses.
MCHD Emergency Preparedness and Risk Manager Shawn Henners praised MCHD’s commitment to keeping its employees safe.

“I’m impressed by the dedication of our employees,” Henners said. “I’m proud to work with all of these dedicated individuals, especially in the safety committee, and all the managers and executives who have supported all of the things we’ve been able to put in place to improve employee safety and health.”

The Montgomery County Hospital District has implemented several safety initiatives in recent years including remedial driver training, safe-lift coaching and the purchase of state-of-the-art Horton ambulances, which studies show can reduce the risk of paramedic death by 95% in the event of a collision during patient care.

MCHD CEO Randy Johnson is very proud of MCHD’s safety record. He said, “We spend a lot of time going over and implementing best practices, and that’s becoming more and more a part of our organization. As a result, we are safer, healthier and people are really enjoying their jobs, which is always a great thing to accomplish.”

Montgomery County Hospital District’s mission is to care for the indigent and provide EMS services while protecting the interest of taxpayers and ensuring long-term stability through fund development. For more information about the Montgomery County Hospital District, please go to www.mchd-tx.org.
