THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS -- Due to forecasted heavy precipitation chances and dangerous winds between 4:30 and 5:30 p.m., The Woodlands Township Veterans Day Tribute has been cancelled. Those interested in dropping off care package items may still do so. Items can be dropped off to The Woodlands Township Town Hall (2801 Technology Forest Boulevard, 77381) Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. The Township would like to thank all veterans for their service and look forward to hosting a successful event in 2019.

The Woodlands Township has proclaimed Veterans Day in the community for several years. Out of respect for those who wear the uniform of the United States of America and as a small token of appreciation for these individuals who have made the cause of peace and freedom around the world, the Township has hosted a Veterans Day event at Town Green Park, always on November 11. The event generally lasts approximately an hour and features the presentation of the Colors, a keynote speaker and patriotic music.

The Woodlands Township Board of Directors, in full support of Veterans, issued this Proclamation at its October 24, 2018 meeting:

Whereas, we have a sacred trust with those who wear the uniform of the United States of America; and

Whereas, our Nation’s servicemen and women are our best and brightest, enlisting in times of peace and war, serving with honor under the most difficult circumstances, and making sacrifices that many of us cannot begin to imagine; and

Whereas, we also pay tribute to all who have worn the uniform and continue to serve their country as civilians protecting the greatest country in the world; and

Whereas, our Veterans continue to stand up for those timeless American ideals of liberty, self-determination, and equal opportunity; and

Whereas, on Veterans Day, we honor the heroes we have lost, and we rededicate ourselves to the next generation of veterans by supporting our Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines, and Coast Guardsmen as they return home from duty;

Now, therefore, with respect for and in recognition of the contributions our servicemen and women have made to the cause of peace and freedom around the world, The Woodlands Township Board of Directors and staff honor and recognize November 11, 2018, as Veterans Day and encourage all residents and businesses in The Woodlands to recognize the valor and sacrifice of our veterans through appropriate ceremonies, prayers and other expressions of affirmation.
