CONROE, Texas -- The Dispute Resolution Center of Montgomery County, Inc. (DRC-MC) has announced today it has been named a “2018 Top-Rated Nonprofit” by GreatNonprofits, the leading provider of user reviews of charities and nonprofits.

The DRC-MC serves the community as a resource for resolving disputes, improving communication, and restoring relationships. Mediation attempts to prevent disputes from escalating into serious civil or criminal issues outside the court room by using professionally trained volunteer mediators. Mediators assist both parties in generating options to rebuild their relationship and find a solution if possible.

“We are honored to be named a 2018 Top-Rated Nonprofit,” Elaine Roberts, Executive Director of the DRC-MC. We are proud of our accomplishments this year, including 63 mediators handling over 1,000 mediation cases last fiscal year.

The Top-Rated Nonprofit Award is based on the rating and number of reviews that DRC-MC received from volunteers, donors, and recipients of their services.

“In 2002 I was a client well served by the DRC”, said mediator Jim Parker. In 2006 I became a volunteer mediator and have continued in that role for nearly 12 years. I have found my fellow mediators and support administrators in the DRC to be a group of caring, sensitive, and thoughtful people who are a credit to their community.”

GreatNonprofits is the leading website where people share stories about their personal experiences on more than 1.6 million charities and nonprofits. The GreatNonprofits Top-Rated Awards are the only awards for nonprofits determined by those who have direct experience with the charities – as donors, volunteers and recipients of aid.

“The Dispute Mediation Center of Montgomery County is a great example of a nonprofit making a real difference in their community,” said Perla Ni, CEO of GreatNonprofits, “Their award is well-deserved recognition not only of their work, but the tremendous support they receive, as shown by the many outstanding reviews they have received from people who have direct experience working with the Dispute Mediation Center of Montgomery County”.

The Dispute Resolution Center of Montgomery County, Inc. (DRC-MC) is located in Downtown Conroe at 301 N. Thompson Street, Suite 106, across the street from the Courthouse and is celebrating 30 years of resolving conflicts. The Montgomery County Commissioner”s Court and Montgomery County Bar Association established the nonprofit organization in 1988 and the DRC-MC has been helping people with difficult conversations since that time. Mediation fees are administered on a sliding scale based on ability to pay to prevent disputes from escalating into serious civil or criminal matters.
