THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- Children’s Book on Wheels loves to entertain and have fun at events! What better way to contribute to literacy for youth in our community than dancing the night away to fabulous Rhythm and Blues music with Motown hits!

Jingle all the Way to Literacy will be Saturday, December 8, 2018, from 8:00pm to 11:30pm at the Sleepy Hollow Multipurpose Building, located at 9845 Sleepy Hollow Road in Conroe, just east of The Woodlands Mall. The Christmas event is designed to be a night out for adults only with music provided from the Ray Parsee’s All-Star Review featuring Two Black Guys and Evette Busby. Admission for entertainment and food bites is a donation of $35 payable at door.
“Children’s Books on Wheels has been invaluable in reaching vulnerable communities”, said Maria Jordan, Honorary Chair of Jingle all the way to Literacy. “I invite our community to celebrate the holy season by supporting the After-School Programs for our area at risk children”.

Maria Jordon is the Founder and President of Texas Familias Council-a non-profit organization empowering diverse Latino communities in Montgomery County to develop leadership by navigating community resources to disable the cultural disconnect and improve lives. Her efforts have engaged local Latino communities in advocacy, education, and provided a voice to positive impactful changes through elected officials.

Children’s Books on Wheels was established in 2004 to bring reading to children in all areas where they live that may not have access to books. Seventy five percent of the population served by CBOW are at or below the poverty level. Rita Wiltz, Executive Director and Founder, with her team travel to community events, churches, businesses, and other non-profits in north, south, east and west counties. The after-school site for the YMCA is hosted by CBOW along with Summer Reading Projects to donate books to children and their families at no cost. Each year about 5,000 books are distributed.
Other services Children’s Books on Wheels provide include assistance of social services in multiple languages to the unserved and underserved. Free year-round tax services by IRS certified volunteers at 15 mobile tax sites at no charge for eligible individuals.

Sponsors for the event include Altar’d States, Lone Star Family Health Center, Signsational Signs, and Picture Worth Custom Framing.

"Children and families are our most precious resource and this outreach organization shares love and hope in our most isolated communities”, said Wiltz.” Please join us to help us continue filling the gap between literacy and our youth. Reading at an early age expands the mind, develops language skills, improves focus and concentration, and teaches effective listening habits. Don’t we want our future adults to be able to develop analytical skills before they become adults in the community?”

The mission of Children’s Books on Wheels is to promote literacy by providing books and educational literature to Pre-K through 12 grade children and their families. Learn more about Children’s Books on Wheels by visiting their website www.ChildrensBooksonWheels.org
