30+ Area Ministries Tackle Loss, Anxiety, Grief, Suicide, Suffering and Share How To be 'Strong at The Broken Places' of Our Lives

THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- Life often breaks us. Personal tragedies, physical health, mental health, failure in business, stress and anxiety, and grief are just some of the challenges that touch just about every person and family. Committed to strengthening our community, leaders from 30+ area ministries are coming together hosted by the Grace School of Theology (www.gsot.edu) to help individuals and families learn how to be strong at the broken places of their lives.

The Strong at the Broken Places conference is being held in The Woodlands from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. on Saturday, February 23, at Faith Bible Church, followed by a live concert at 7 p.m. with Christian artist David Dunn sharing his family’s Yellow Balloons testimony of walking through personal tragedy in their lives.

With three main sessions and 24 breakouts, guest can choose from a variety of tracks to match their personal interests:
YOUTH TRACK – Created specifically for high school students and adults who work with them, topics include suicide and loss, trials, suffering alone, trust and relationships. A featured ministry partner in this track is Cassidy Joined for Hope with founder Kim Hess sharing about her family’s loss of her daughter and the high school & college clubs that have formed to help break the silence and be a voice for teen suicide awareness and prevention. Hess will be joined by experienced counselors, youth professionals and marketplace leaders.

HEALTH & WELLNESS – Be encouraged as presenters share biblical approaches to the mental, physical, and spiritual health. These sessions are co-hosted by Melissa Shaver, founder of Walking in Grace Ministries, and Dr. Paula Kruppstadt, founder of Hope for Healing and an expert at getting to the root of most health challenges. Each presenter will also share their own testimonies of personal health struggles and the practical steps they have taken to achieve restored and improved wellness.

CHAPLAINCY & CRISIS CARE – Chaplains specialize in coming alongside people who are broken by life, and this track is packed with veteran chaplains and practical crisis care professionals ready to share how you can encourage and minister to hurting people in all kinds of situations.

Additional presenters on topics like PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), grief, bulletproof marriages, reconciliation, life transformation, “golden repair” and many more include counselors, pastors, motivational speakers, and marketplace professionals who are helping people from all walks become strong at the broken places of their lives. Pastor Scot Pollock, Faith Bible Church and author of Grace – Simple. Profound.
Carmen Pate, speaker, cancer warrior, and author of In Our Weakness, God is Strong

As a special wrap-up to the day which is open to the general public, Christian Artist and former Woodlands resident David Dunn will share his Yellow Balloons album at 7 p.m. … and the testimony of the tragedy that inspired the album, the sudden death of his 22-month-old niece, Moriah, whose favorite color was yellow. His family’s testimony is also captured in the book, Yellow Balloons: Finding Power to Live Above Your Circumstances (www.yellowballoons.net). Concert-only tickets are available and open to the public.
