THE WOODLANDS, Texas – Now that Valentine's Day is behind us, we can look forward to a new week of a wide variety of things to do. From fur babies to livestock and soup to canvas, here's a sample of what's going on this week in The Woodlands. For a full list of events, visit our Events Calendar.

This time of year in The Woodlands is a battle. Heater on in the morning, air conditioning in the afternoon. It won't be long though before its AC all the time. Capture the cool now while you can 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. Monday Feb. 18 at Pinot's Palette for a 'Cool Summer Night' painting class. All art materials are included. BYOB and some snacks if you like. Register here.

Rise and shine! Who better to spend twilight with than your fur baby, who probably has you up already anyway? The Westin invites you and your favorite four-legged friend for a guided run 6 a.m. – 7 a.m. Wednesday Feb. 20. The pet-friendly hotel invites you to stick around after the run/walk for coffee (for you) and water and treats (for your pet.) Bring a leash, as dogs must be leashed at all times. Park for free in the lot on the corner of Waterway Avenue and Timberloch, then cross the footbridge to the Westin. The event is free.

Can you recite the names of all 45 U.S. Presidents in less than one minute? It's all a matter of mnemonic strategies, a method LearningRx utilizes in its brain-training sessions. Join a webinar at noon Thursday Feb. 21 to learn more about exercising your brain and the many benefits that come with it. The live broadcast comes with the opportunity to ask questions. Check it out here.

The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is a major event that reaches beyond city limits, including The Woodlands. You can yee-haw 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. Friday Feb. 22 at Chick-fil-A Magnolia at Rodeo Family Night. Pull up your boot straps, pet some country critters, ride a pony, climb a rock wall, take some pics in the family photo booth … it's time to get your rodeo on.

Comfort can always be found in a warm bowl of soup. You can enjoy that soothing feeling while making a difference at the same time. The John Cooper School is hosting its 14th Annual Empty Bowls 10:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Saturday Feb. 23. The event, which has raised more than $90,000 for hunger relief over the past 13 years, benefits the Interfaith Food Pantry. Enjoy a bowl of soup, bid on silent auction items, view student art, and take home a handmade bowl as a reminder that there are empty bowls here in Montgomery County. Tickets are $10. Register online in advance here, although tickets are also available at the door.
