Deputy Nicholas Cooke is honored as 2018 'Officer of the Year'

THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- On February 21, 2019, Deputy Nicholas Cooke was honored as being the 2018 “Officer of the Year” by the East Montgomery Improvement District. Deputy Cooke has been assigned as a Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office patrol deputy in East Montgomery County for more than five years. In 2018, Deputy Cooke responded to more than 2,000 calls for service, and conducted 66 investigations which distinguished him among his peers in investigative ability, technical skill and dedication in the most challenging situations. Deputy Cooke is known for taking a special interest in family violence cases, and routinely conducts extensive felony investigations involving very dangerous suspects. Deputy Cooke is not only committed to protecting victims and seeing felony cases to completion, but is passionate about teaching the next generation of Sheriff’s Deputies serving East Montgomery County. Finally, Deputy Cooke shows a great amount of compassion for his community. Prior to the holiday season, upon hearing of a family in need in the Montgomery County Community of Tamina, he and another deputy, on short notice, took the initiative to deliver Christmas presents donated by the community. These are only highlights of his hard work.

Deputy Cooke has distinguished himself as an informal leader, and is highly respected by both his peers and higher ranks. His selfless-service, commitment to his community, and professionalism reflect great credit upon the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and the citizens of East Montgomery County. He is without a doubt worthy of selection as “officer of the year.”
