Local Artist Selected as Finalist in the 75th International Art Competition Small Works 2019

THE WOODLANDS, Texas - Local Artist Juan Cantavella had two of his oil paintings selected for the 75th International Art Competition Small Works 2019. Only 80 finalist were selected. Exhibition is from February 21 until April 13, 2019, at the Richeson School of Art and Gallery in Kimberly WI. A reception will be held on March 1, 2019.

Juan is self-taught and also is a degreed architect. He is nationally known for highly detailed portraits, still life, and cityscapes. He is a member of Oil Painters of America. He has lived in the Woodlands since 2014.

Houston Area Oil Painters of America (HAOPA) is made up of five award- winning artists: Lois Blackburne, Juan Cantavella, Beau Crump, Tom LaRock, and Debra Riley. The group of artists has a combined portfolio of local and national awards. Additionally all of the artists have been juried into the national organization, Oil Painters of America. All members are representational artists with a passion for realism.
