THE WOODLANDS, TX -- The calendar is loaded with so many events this week! Choosing just five things to feature becomes a difficult task. Look through our entire Events Calendar to pick your personal top five. Here are our recommendations for this week.

When I hear the word Jazzercise, for some reason Richard Simmons’ Sweatin’ to the Oldies workouts from the ‘80s come to mind. Jazzercise is not antiquated and is no joke! The Woodlands Township Jazzercise is a modern, pulse-pounding, beat-pumping fitness program that gets results! This high-intensity dance workout mixes modern moves with strength training. Set to Top 40 music, Jazzercise targets the three major muscle groups for a full body workout. This program is held at The Recreation Center at Rob Fleming Park Monday through Thursday, and Saturdays. Register online or by calling 281-516-7348.

We all know GenuWine Tasting Room as a hot spot for enjoying wine and live music. This week on Wednesday, May 1 from 6:30 p.m to 8:30 p.m. GenuWine is hosting something different: a wine and art event. Try rare wine and create a one-of-a-kind mandala on a ceramic plate. Yulia Drozdova, a renowned artist, is known for creating captivating mandala plates using a point-to-point technique. She will lead the art instruction for the evening. Seats are limited. Reserve your $45 spot in this two-hour class. Call Cassie Lochte to rsvp and pay at 832-934-2675.

After watching an action movie, do you fantasize about your skills? Do you see yourself as a ninja warrior when you close your eyes? No? Well, Obstacle Warrior Kids The Woodlands holds classes for teens and adults. After a lesson or two led by Ninja instructors, you might release that inner ninja. Classes are a fun way to get exercise. No walk-ins are allowed. Sign up at least a day in advance. Try the teen and adult class on Wednesday or Thursday, May 1 or 2 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Classes are $20 per person or you can sign up for a membership.

From the time we learn to walk as little ones, we run! On Saturday, May 4, families with children of all abilities are invited to the 3rd Annual Texas Children’s Hospital Family Fun Run at Texas Children’s Hospital The Woodlands. The course length of only one mile is doable for participants of all abilities, including those needing walkers and wheelchairs. Everyone will receive an award for participating! The race will take place rain or shine! Please note this is a family race, not a kids race. All members of your family must be registered to walk/run together. No children are allowed to participate without an adult over 18 years of age. Regular registration is closed, but late registration will be available for $20 per person by attending the packet pick-up on Friday, May 3 from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Texas Children’s Hospital The Woodlands (2nd-floor conference room). Please note late registrants do not receive their t-shirts until race day and are available while supplies last. Click here for more information.
