SJRA Situational Update May 10th 3:00pm

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX -- —San Jacinto River Authority (SJRA) continues to implement its standard protocols for a severe weather event, including 24-hour operations, coordination with local emergency operations centers, and providing text and email alerts.

CURRENT CONDITIONS

LAKE CONROE CURRENT STATUS: The Lake Conroe watershed received about ½
inch of rain across the basin last night. The lake level is relatively stable at around
201.40’ mean sea level (MSL), about 5 inches above normal pool. Release is currently
2,130 cubic feet per second (CFS).

CURRENT RIVER STATUS: The West Fork of the San Jacinto River below Lake Conroe is currently below action stage.

LAKE CONROE FORECAST: Current forecasts call for another 1 to 2 inches of rain over the next 24 hours. Lake Conroe is not expected to rise more than a few more inches during this event according to current weather forecasts and modeling. Releases are expected to remain modest.

After Hurricane Harvey, SJRA initiated a new time-sensitive text and email message alert system to issue notifications during potentially hazardous events. Participants receive periodic text or email messages advising them of current conditions and directing them to real-time lake information.
