THE WOODLANDS, TX -- The end of May is approaching already. Can you believe it? This time of year is busy with end-of-school-year activities and summer preparations. Here are some fun things to weave into your schedule. These might be a welcome respite from your daily routine. Check out our Events Calendar for the full lineup of available pursuits.

Week after week, concerts and other musical events flood the calendar with options for residents. However, these are almost entirely geared toward teens and adults. On Tuesday, May 21 at The Woodlands Children’s Museum, young ones have a musical event designed especially for them. During the Boogie Bash, young toddlers through age five will “travel” around the world through a variety of musical movement activities. Music from Mexico, France and Japan will encourage movement, listening and cooperation skills. The event starts at 11 a.m., and the cost of admission is $7 for adults and children one year and older. No reservation needed.

As the end of the school year approaches, it is no doubt a relief for children and their parents to set aside worries of nightly homework. What about next year, though? If this year’s homework routine has been full of frustrations and tears, LearningRX has something for you. Register for their free webinar, which will reveal five crucial things every parent should know to make the next school year exceptional and stress-free. Help your child prepare to thrive next year by tuning into the webinar. If you can’t be there at the scheduled time, register anyway, and they will email a link for viewing at your convenience.

With so much focus, time and attention given to the children this time of year, don’t forget about the importance of taking time away for you and your sweetheart. Date nights play an essential role in keeping a relationship strong. Friday, May 24 bring your significant other for an evening painting the Love Ripples Set at Painting with a Twist Studio. At the end of the night, you will have a work of art for your own home to remind you of the date, and you’ll have another set to give to someone else you love! Just don’t undo the loving vibes you created together by fighting over whose art you’ll keep and whose will become the gift! All you need to bring is yourself, your date (or friend), and food and drink of choice as well as any required eating or serving utensils. The studio provides the paint, brushes, canvas, aprons, ice, wine openers and wine cups for your beverage! Painting begins at 7 p.m. and goes until 9 p.m. The cost for this class is $35 per artist. Reserve your seats here.

Dog owners love Fridays. Yes, the weekend means you have more time to spend with your pup, but Friday’s mean Yappy Hour has arrived! Your dog would agree that there isn’t a much better way to kick off the weekend than a beautiful patio, specialty cocktails and gourmet treats for both you and your four-legged companion! Bring your furry friends to Robard's Steakhouse’s patio for Yappy Hour Friday, May 24 (and every Friday) from 4-8 p.m. Relaxation and socialization for dogs and humans alike await you at Yappy Hour.

This list of things to do this week in The Woodlands would not be complete without mentioning The Woodlands Townships annual Memorial Day Festival on Sunday, May 26. Celebrate the official start to summer at the event which will include live music, children’s activities, strolling entertainers and fireworks (weather permitting). Families are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs, and concessions will be available for purchase from a variety of food vendors. The affair will take place in Town Green Park, 2099 Lake Robbins Dr., from 5-9 p.m. A care package drop-off booth will be available onsite to accept donations of recommended items to be shipped to the troops currently serving. The complete list of suggested items is available here.
