THE WOODLANDS, TX -- Two contractors were injured when fire broke out Thursday evening in the home where they were working on Palmer Crest Drive in The Woodlands. The 2-alarm fire brought more than a dozen fire companies to the scene from The Woodlands Fire Department and surrounding agencies, along EMS units from the Montgomery County Hospital District and Life Flight.

Both injured workers were transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital in the Woodlands, where a Life Flight Helicopter met them, transporting the more seriously injured patient to a burn center in the Houston Medical Center. That victim is expected to survive but received serious burns to his face and upper torso. The other worker was also transported by ground ambulance to the burn center with less severe injuries and is also expected to recover.

The extensive fire damage compromised the structural integrity of the home and the Investigation team has been working to stabilize the remaining walls and examine the fire scene. During the initial investigation last evening, Investigators were told that the fire started in the area where one of the workers was inside, painting the home. This is a complex investigation and it will likely take some time to reach any final conclusions as to the exact cause of the fire. Investigators are still searching for the family’s missing pets.
