The Woodlands, TX -- The Woodlands Area Economic Development Partnership (EDP) has announced that they will relocate their office effective August 1, 2019 to Lake Front North, Building 2, at Hughes Landing®, owned and managed by The Howard Hughes Corporation®. Lake Front North is situated on 200-acre Lake Woodlands in the award-winning mixed-use development of Hughes Landing. The EDP will occupy temporary office space at Lake Front North until construction of their new space is completed at the end of August.

Twenty-two years ago, the EDP was created as an extension of The Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce. Their mission is to create jobs and capital investment and recruit, retain and expand businesses in The Woodlands area. In 2016, the EDP became their own independent non-profit organization. They are the only public/private membership based economic development organization in Montgomery County, and members of the organization help fund their mission. The EDP Board Officers, Board of Directors and Partners have played a crucial role in supporting economic vitality for the area and the continued success of the organization.

Upon EDP’s formation in 1997, it had one employee, Ron Bourbeau, Chief Executive Officer and began with seven founding members. Over time, the organization has grown to four employees including Gil Staley, Chief Executive Officer, Holly Gruy, Chief Operating Officer, Laura Lea Palmer, Sr. Vice President of Business Recruitment and Retention and Ashley Byers, Manager of Marketing and Outreach. Membership has grown to an all time high of 97 members and continues to increase. Due to anticipated growth, the EDP plans to hire a fifth part-time person at the end of this year.

Gil Staley, CEO of The Woodlands Area Economic Development Partnership, said, “We are proud to say that our organization is thriving and growing. Our new office space will include four offices, a reception area and a 12-person conference room. This new space will allow us to function in a higher capacity to serve our business community and our members. To fulfill our mission within our own organization brings me great joy and I give full credit to our Board of Directors and Partners for supporting us in our growth.”

Paul Layne, President – Central Region for The Howard Hughes Corporation, said, “We are pleased to welcome The Woodlands Area EDP to Lake Front North at Hughes Landing. There is a strong need for premium office space, and we are excited to be able to provide the opportunity for the EDP to expand their offices as they continue their commitment to the community.”
