Potential Development and Landfall of Tropical Storm Barry

THE WOODLANDS, TX -- The National Weather Service is predicting the storm system to develop into a tropical storm and possibly a hurricane by the time it makes landfall. As of now the projected landfall path is the Louisiana coast, but there is still a bit of uncertainty to this model. If it stays along the projected path we can expect between .25 and 1.5 inches of rain. The Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management will continue monitoring and updating on the development.

During hurricane season preparation is key. If this path changes our preparation lead time will diminish. Now is the time to prepare for the next hurricane. Be sure to have family plan, non-perishable food for up to 10 days, water for family and pets (1 gallon a day per person including pets), have a plan for your large and small animals. Keep your vehicle’s gas tank filled to at least half a tank. If you plan on using a generator, be sure to test it and that you have fuel to run it.
