CONROE, TX -- The City of Conroe would like to notify the citizens of a possible fraud in the community. In the last several weeks the City of Conroe Public Works Department has received calls from concerned customers regarding persons visiting their residences, announcing that they are from the City of Conroe, and requesting to test their water. The reports received indicate that this particular group has 'Pure Life' on their shirts.

Public Works would like to assure citizens that any City employee will have proper identification, drive a City vehicle, and be wearing a uniform displaying 'City of Conroe'.

False claims have also been made by these persons that the City water is not safe to drink and that a water treatment system must be purchased to treat the water to safe standards. The City of Conroe Public Water system has a Superior rating with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ). The TCEQ tests the City water and water quality meets or exceeds all EPA and TCEQ primary drinking water standards. Neither agency recommends further treatment.
