THE WOODLANDS, TX – Do you know what is one of the most important things a parent can do to keep their children safe? Swimming and water safety lessons. According to the National Safety Council, drowning is the leading cause of death for children under the age of 4 in the United States. This year so far, there have been 61 fatal drownings in Texas alone. Most fatal drownings happen when children either fall into a pool or are left alone in a bathtub, but these tragedies are preventable.

Emler Swim School, Montgomery County Hospital District, Texas Children’s Hospital The Woodlands, The YMCA and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers are teaming up to offer a safety event open to families in surrounding communities. S.P.L.A.S.H. Day will be held on Wednesday, July 31, 2019 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Emler Swim School of The Woodlands at 27822 Interstate 45 North, Oak Ridge North, Texas 77385.

Activities will include a free 30 minute water safety swim lesson, info and activity booths on CPR, life jacket sizing and safety, pool barriers/alarms, water watcher and more. Pre-registration is required for the water safety swim lesson. To register, visit splashdayatemler.eventbrite.com or for more information, call 832-521-8989.
