THE WOODLANDS, TX -- Dr. Shelley Sekula-Gibbs, M.D. has filed for The Woodlands Township Board of Directors, Position 5, for the Tuesday, November 5, 2019, general election.

A fifth-generation Texan, Dr. Shelley is running for The Woodlands Township Board to build on George Mitchell’s vision of a sustainable, wooded sanctuary for people, pets and nature. She wants to protect The Woodlands sterling reputation as one of the best places in America to live, work, worship, learn, play and raise a family.

The Woodlands residents and businesses are Dr. Shelley’s first priority. She believes projects should be judged on their benefits to The Woodlands. Mitigating flooding, managing traffic, and optimizing pools, parks and trails should be done in a Woodlands-centric fashion. Working together with county, state and federal authorities, she will strive to build partnerships and leverage funding to minimize the impact on taxes while improving the quality of life.

Dr. Shelley envisions The Woodlands can continue to have enhanced amenities, environmentally supportive enterprises, a talent-rich labor force, and a stable tax base. Based on the results of ongoing studies, The Woodlands Township may move towards incorporation, with eventual voter approval. “The Woodlands can become an even better place for future generations to grow up and raise their families”, says Dr. Shelley.

Dr. Shelley is an experienced, thoughtful, problem solver. She wants to use her many years of service in government on the Houston City Council and the U.S. House of Representatives; her experience managing her successful dermatology practice in Clear Lake; and the skills honed while teaching medical students and dermatology residents as a clinical assistant professor at Baylor College of Medicine, to provide conservative leadership on The Woodlands Township Board. Since moving to The Woodlands almost two years ago, Dr. Shelley has been chosen to serve as chaplain on the Board of The Woodlands Republican Women’s club. She is also an advisor to a local Young Republican group. She believes that democracy functions best with a well-educated electorate, so investing time and resources in America’s youth is vital to America’s future.

Dr. Shelley’s mission is to “Keep The Woodlands Wonderful”©.
