CONROE, TX -- In a night of football with more momentum swings that a date night with the Kardashian sisters the Conroe Tigers beat the Klein Cain Hurricanes 58-55 Saturday night at Klein Memorial Stadium. While holding a 56-28 lead midway through the third quarter Cain started a furious comeback that nearly left Conroe holding a bag full of empty dreams and promise.

Cain went on a 27-2 run over a 12 minute span midway through the third quarter that, if not for an unfortunate two point blocked PAT runback by Conroe, could have turned the defeat into victory.

Fortunately for Conroe they would be graced by a little luck and the fortitude of their senior captain quarterback Christian Pack who would calmly pace the Tigers through the whirlwind comeback attempt by Cain.

Pack was phenomenal all night behind center as he would throw for 374 yards to an assortment of receivers, notably city-leading receiver Michael Phoenix. Phoenix would have three touchdown catches on the night with 209 receiving yards, easily extending his lead as the top pass catcher in the city.

Pack would also rush for 201 yards on the night for a staggering 586 total yards to go along with his six touchdowns (4 passing, 1 rushing, 1 receiving). The ultra-playmaker is closing in on 2,000 total yards for the season after only five games and is the leading candidate for district MVP.

A sore spot for the Tigers moving into next weeks contest Klein is their porous which has more holes than a Democratic impeachment. The Tigers gave up a staggering 600 yards Saturday night that saw missed tackles, over pursuits and a total letdown from the week 4 effort versus Klein Oak.

The Tigers will take on a Klein Bearcat team this Friday night at Moorhead Stadium in downtown Conroe. Klein is currently 1-1 in District 15-6A and are coming off a bye week. The Bearcats have their own explosive offense and are led by quarterback Bryce Corriston.
