KLEIN, TX -- It may have been cold and blustery Friday night at Klein Memorial Stadium but it was hotter than Texas chili on the Klein Collins sideline. The Tigers blew away a very good Klein Cain team 49-14 and the score doesn’t reflect the total beatdown the Hurricanes felt.

Behind the machine-like precision of the Tigers run game the Hurricanes defense was out-gunned and out-manned. Running backs Braelon Bridges (2020) Jonathan Lewis (2021) each had two touchdown runs apiece and QB Tyler Wells (2020) added two more for an untouchable trifecta.

Midway through the third quarter, with the score still close at 28-14, Tigers defensive back Jalen Davenport would pick-six Hurricanes QB Luke Pardee to put the game on ice. The Tigers held serve with Klein Oak as the Panthers defeated Klein Forest 41-6 Thursday night.

Both teams are now 4-1 in district play with Oak holding the tiebreaker with their win over KC last week 35-32. The schedule does not get any easier for Collins as they face cross-town rival Klein next Friday and a pesky Conroe team October 25 before finishing the season with “perennial power” The Woodlands.

Look for Coach Adrian Mitchell’s squad to keep a steady diet of a run-first offense and a defense that prides itself on turnovers and winning the field position battle.
