Mother and Daughter Convicted of Using a Stun Gun on 14-Year-Old Disabled Child.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX -- Mother and daughter convicted of using stun gun on 14 year old disabled child. On October 10, 2019, Tommieretta Gunner and Keyonna Gunner were convicted by a jury of Injury to a Child, a third degree felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison, in the 9' District Court in Montgomery County. On October 11, 2019, Judge Phil Grant of the 9th District Court sentenced both Defendants to time behind bars. Tommieretta Gunner will serve 8 years in prison. Keyonna Gunner will serve 90 days in jail followed by 7 years of felony probation.

Testimony and evidence in trial showed that both Tommieretta Gunner and Keyonna Gunner used a stun gun on multiple occasions in order to control the 14 year old child, who suffered from multiple disabilities. Members of the Montgomery County Multi-Disciplinary Team including Detectives with Montgomery County Pct. 3 Constable's Office, the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, and Investigators with the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office Special Victims Division discovered the abuse while investigating the death of the child. The death was unrelated to the use of the stun gun. The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Shanna Redwine and Brittany Hansford.
