TODD MISSION, TX – In a recent Texas Renaissance Festival exit survey, 30% of the respondents indicated that they came to the festival for the food. Celebrating its 45th year this season, the festival offers foods from around the world that are sure to satisfy the pallet. Yes, there are the iconic turkey leg, empanadas and sausage on a stick, but we submit to you five festival foods that you may not have tried, but should the next time you visit the festival.

1. The Queen’s Bakery Scotch Eggs – The best way to describe this delectable food is the best of breakfast rolled into one. It is sausage wrapped around a soft-boiled egg, breaded and deep fried. If you arrive at festival opening, this breakfast nugget is a great way to start your day.

2. Dragon Meat (Fried Alligator) at the Musketeer’s Banquet – Okay so it’s not real dragon meat, but it is the closest you’ll come to it at the Texas Renaissance Festival! It is conveniently served skewered on a stick so you can still walk around and enjoy the festival and your fried alligator at the same time!

3. Garlic Pork Belly Sausage – The King’s Feast The garlic pork belly sausage are tasty bites that are unlike any other sausage you can get at the festival.

4. Butternut & Acorn Squash Soup - The King’s Feast If you’ve never experienced The King’s Feast before it is well worth the money and the two hours that you will be enjoying entertainment, endless beer and wine and food. While the entire menu is delicious, there are two items that stand out. The butternut and acorn squash soup is served with a dab of crème fraiche garnished with roasted pumpkin seeds for an added crunch..
