CONROE, TX – Businesses depend on internet technology to increase communication with customers and improve visibility. Technology offers risks and threats to businesses through cyberattacks from unauthorized access to computers, networks, programs, and confidential data that can destroy a business of any size. Every business is vulnerable to fraud if not protected.

Matt Davies is an Assistant Vice President at the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas and will share information to protect from hackers, viruses, and malware that can cause digital damages to your business with a mini workshop entitled “Payment Fraud and Cybersecurity”. The holiday season is around the corner and the information provided will assist in maintaining security for your business and employees. Matt will share ways to protect the integrity and safety of your network both personally and at work.

The Conroe/Lake Conroe Chamber of Commerce will host the Professional Business Development workshop on Wednesday, November 13 from 8:00am until 9:30am at The Conroe/Lake Conroe Chamber boardroom, located at 505 W. Davis in Conroe. Business owners need to hear this workshop to prevent a cyberattack. Attendees will learn what measures can be done to protect your business and customer data, and educate your employees on their role in cybersecurity.

As a provider of payment services to banks and credit unions, the Federal Reserve seeks to keep the United States’ payments system secure. As part of those efforts, the Federal Reserve works with organizations to speak, not just with banks and credit unions, but with end-users of payments, including businesses of all sizes. The goal of this session is for owners and employees of businesses to have a better understanding of current trends in payments fraud and cybersecurity, and how they can protect themselves against those threats. This month's seminar is generously brought to us by Guaranty Bank and Trust.

Matt Davies, CTP, AAP, CPP, has 21 years of experience in the payments industry, 18 of those with the Federal Reserve Banks. He has also served as ACH & Wire Product Manager for a commercial bank, and as a product manager in the bankcard industry.

A native of St. Louis, Missouri, Matt graduated from William Jewell College in Liberty, Missouri, with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and History in 1997, and from the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, in 2013. He currently serves on the board of directors for Jubilee Park & Community Center in Dallas.

Every other month, the Conroe/Lake Conroe Chamber offers educational seminars to members and not-yet members through their Professional Business Development program. These workshops vary on date and time throughout the year and focus on the creation, development, marketing and management of local and small business in the area. From preliminary planning stages, building a book of business, to filing taxes, using social media and finding the right employees to take your company to the next level, these seminars are a part of the Chamber’s continuing commitment to provide affordable education covering a multitude of topics that foster business growth and cultivate sustainability for the community.
