THE WOODLANDS, TX -- Status Update from the Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management on Weather Conditions

Montgomery County has maintained an Enhanced Risk for both tomorrow evening and early Saturday morning for significant severe weather which is capable of all hazards such as: strong tornadoes (EF2+), high winds (58mph+), large hail (1”+), and heavy rain. We are anticipating this system to be in Montgomery County and surrounding areas within the window of 8pm-3am. This line of severe storms will move from west to east, with the potential of strong to severe thunderstorms ahead of the line possible. Rainfall with the line is expected to be heavy, however due to rate of the storm’s movement we will only see 1 to 2 inches of rain fall total. Some localized street or poor drainage flooding is possible, and we expect all rivers to remain within their banks.

Action to Take Now:
• Continue to monitor the forecast for updates
• Make appropriate preparations in case severe weather occurs
• Make sure to have multiple ways to receive severe weather warnings
• Consider making backup plans for any plans/events occurring Friday night
