MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX -- The two young men, pictured above, prepared for graduation day as any other student anxiously would. They invited guests to attend, prepared their speeches, and had dress rehearsals to ensure everything would go as planned. The young men were nervous, excited and experienced all the emotions any student would knowing they are about to embark on a new journey into adulthood. The difference is that these two young men accomplished it behind bars.

Through Montgomery County Sheriff's Office partnership with Conroe Independent School District, high school aged students from all school districts are able to either continue on their current education path towards a high school diploma, or change paths to complete their high school equivalency certification.

The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office would like to personally thank the staff at Oak Ridge High School, the Disciplinary Alternative Education Program (DAEP), the High School Equivalency Test program (HiSET), and Conroe Independent School District's administrative staff for making this possible. The program would not be possible without the continued support of teachers, counselors, coaches, principals, and detention staff that believe in the students' capacity to succeed, in spite of their current situation.
