CONROE, TX – The Board of Directors for the Montgomery County Hospital District has appointed Brent Thor as the replacement for the At-Large Position 1 on the Board. The position was vacated by former chairman Mark Cole, who resigned in early January. After a two-week application period, all candidates were given the opportunity to come for a special meeting to be interviewed for the position. After narrowing the pool down to three, the Board voted to appoint Mr. Thor to serve the remainder of the term until December 31, 2020. In January 2021, the winner of a county-wide election to be held in November will be sworn in.

“I am impressed by the number of qualified candidates who were interested in serving on our Board,” said Randy Johnson, CEO of MCHD. “We welcome Mr. Thor, and we’re looking forward to seeing his contributions to MCHD.”

Mr. Thor is a 32-year veteran of the fire and EMS industry. He served as a firefighter/paramedic and fire chief in Arizona before moving to Texas and becoming a paramedic for Cypress Creek EMS from 2007-2009. Since then, Mr. Thor shifted his career to focus on software solutions for fire and EMS services. Now, he owns his own consulting firm, Thor and Associates, which is focused on fire and EMS operations and revenue management.

Mr. Thor will be sworn in at the regularly scheduled board meeting on Tuesday, February 25th at 4:00 p.m.
