CONROE, TX — God’s Garage, a 501(c)(3) ministry based in North Houston and dedicated to helping women in need of reliable transportation, will be featured on Bravo’s Kelly Clarkson Show on Tuesday, February 25.

God’s Garage to be Featured on National Program

God’s Garage, dedicated to gifting free refurbished vehicles and providing free repairs for single mothers, widows, and wives of deployed military personnel, is receiving national recognition due to the success of its mission to serve those in need. In addition, the organization offers life skills training, such as parenting, financial management and job interviewing, to help these women get on, and stay on, their feet.

Three members of God’s Garage staff, Harvey Yaw, President and Board Member, Corinna Meadors, Operations Manager, and James Minteer, Head Mechanic, flew to Los Angeles in late January to be interviewed by Ms. Clarkson. Meanwhile, a Houston film crew filmed from God’s Garage site in Conroe and played a key role in surprising a deserving lady, Olinda Cardenas, with the gift of transportation. Cardenas was also a guest on the Kelly Clarkson Show, where during the interview, Ms. Clarkson gave a set of car keys to her and both watched as the gifting was video-streamed to the LA TV studio.

“God’s Garage is so grateful to Ms. Clarkson for inviting us to be part of her show,” said Yaw. “Currently, the ladies, either needing their car repaired or in need of a vehicle, must wait over a year to receive help as the waiting list keeps growing. Kelly Clarkson’s compassion in helping these women with their transportation needs elevates our ability to receive help, whether it’s partnerships with auto parts companies or financial donors.”

God’s Garage is kicking off a capital campaign called “Build the 12-Bay,” to finance the construction of a 12-bay garage at their new 13-acre Conroe location. Plans for the new construction include office space, infrastructure, and equipment to help meet the growing waiting list of the local charity. “This is a half million-dollar fundraising project,” stated Ted Wyrick, Board Chairman of God’s Garage. “We are looking for partners in the local community who are passionate about improving the economic situation of single mothers, widows, and wives of deployed military personnel through transportation. Donor packages are tiered, ranging from sponsoring the building, to a single bay, to the actual equipment needed to operate the garage.”

God’s Garage is also looking for volunteers to help with day-to-day operations, whether it be automotive repair, fundraising support, car pick-up, or helping with required life skills courses for the recipients. In 2019, 133 vehicles were given away, and 105 repairs were made, with special thanks to over 120 volunteers.

Watch parties for the February 25 Kelly Clarkson Show are being planned at God’s Garage location, 2106 E Davis St, Conroe, TX, and at Gallery Furniture, 6006 I-45 North between Tidwell and Parker, from 2-4pm. To add to the excitement, vehicles will be given away to two unsuspecting and deserving ladies at both locations. All are invited to attend and to learn more about this local charity and how to get involved.
