The Woodlands Township Board Holds Special Meeting

THE WOODLANDS, TX – The Woodlands Township Board of Directors held a special meeting via videoconference at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 2, 2020 to discuss the Township’s response to COVID-19.

The Board of Directors discussed the following matters on the Regular Agenda:

- Reviewed the additional changes to The Woodlands Express commuter bus schedule starting Monday, April 6,, 2020. The changes include reducing service from 41 runs to 20 runs per day from the Research Forest Park and Ride location. The Board authorized the President/General Manager to make appropriate changes to the Park and Ride schedule at the March 16, 2020, emergency Board meeting.

- The Township Board received a report on the refocusing of the services of Alpha & Omega Mounted Patrol to key shopping areas in The Woodlands, which had been previously authorized at the March 16 emergency Board meeting.

- The Board approved reopening the Township’s community gardens and the Veggie Villages, under a revised schedule that follows Social Distancing Guidelines. Veggie Village is a partnership with Interfaith of The Woodlands, and the production and harvesting of food crops are deemed Essential Critical Infrastructure.

- The Board approved the Help Our Heroes program to accept donations of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for local first responders and hospitals. Donations will be accepted Mondays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Central Fire Station, located at 9951 Grogan’s Mill Road in The Woodlands. PPE Supplies needed include: isolation gowns, gloves, masks, hair covers, full face shields, PAPR Hoods, eyewear, boot covers / shoe covers, germicidal wipes and disinfectant spray / paper towels.

The Board approved the Fourth Amendment to the Host Venue Sponsorship Agreement with World Triathlon Corporation for the Ironman Texas event. The Amendment extends the agreement for five years from 2021 to 2025.

Due to the operational and financial challenges related to the COVID-19 public health emergency, the Board approved the process and timeline for the Budget Task Force, and amended the schedule for the review of the 2021 Budget.
