SPRING, TX -- On May 10, 2020, at approximately 9:12 P.M., deputies with Constable Mark Herman's Office responded to the 2900 block of FM 2920 Road in reference to an Auto Pedestrian crash. Upon deputies arriving, the pedestrian was found in critical condition and was going to be transported to a local hospital by Life Flight.

The driver was identified as Donald Lane who was detained due to displaying several signs of intoxication. A Constable Drug Recognition Expert at the scene conducted Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, the Preliminary Examination and First Pulse Test and discovered that Donald Lane was driving while intoxicated. Donald Lane then admitted that he smoked marijuana just prior to the crash. A warrant was obtained for a blood draw.

Upon arriving to Memorial Hermann Hospital, the pedestrian was pronounced deceased. The investigation showed that the pedestrian was walking east in the south side improved shoulder of FM 2920 and Donald Lane was traveling east in the right lane of FM 2920. He failed to drive in a single marked lane and left the roadway onto the improved shoulder and struck the pedestrian with the right front of the vehicle.

'Donald Lane was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with Intoxication Manslaughter. His bond and court information have not been set at this time.' - Constable Mark Herman
