MCHD EMS & Hospitals Join Forces for Important Message: #DONTWAIT

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX – Montgomery County Hospital District, in conjunction with HCA Houston Healthcare Conroe, Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Medical Center, CHI St. Luke’s The Woodlands Hospital, and Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital, is reaching out to the public to convey a very important message: Do not wait to call 911; Do not wait to go to the hospital; The hospitals in Montgomery County are safe. Since the COVID-19 pandemic began, we have seen a sharp decrease in the number of people calling 911 and going to area hospitals. It is a nationwide problem, but here specifically, we have seen an increase in out-of-hospital deaths by as much as 30% over this time last year.

“We are hearing the same frightening story from our paramedics over and over again,” said James Campbell, MCHD Chief of EMS. “People refusing to go to the hospital because they are scared of COVID-19. So, this is our message to the community and our neighbors here in Montgomery County: It is safe to go to the hospital.”

“We don’t want our patients to suffer adverse medical outcomes because they are afraid to call 911, and go to the hospital. Time matters, minutes count, when you’re dealing with a serious medical issue like a stroke or heart attack,” said Dr. Robert Dickson, MCHD Medical Director. “That’s why we teamed up with our hospital partners here in Montgomery County to spread the word. This message will save lives.”
