THE WOODLANDS, TX -- The Woodlands Fourth of July celebration will take a different look this year due to COVID-19 pandemic, but the fireworks of celebration will continue the tradition of America’s birthday.

The Woodlands Township will offer a “drive-in” fireworks display, presented by St. Luke’s Health - The Woodlands Hospital, on Saturday, July 4, 2020. The 18-minute show will be launched from the campus of Lone Star College - Montgomery at approximately 9:30 p.m. and will be simulcast on KSTAR Country 99.7 FM with live coverage on The Woodlands Township’s website and Woodlands Online. To listen to the soundtrack live, spectators can download the KSTAR app by searching “KSTAR Country Radio” in the App Store or on Google Play.

Due to COVID-19, the festival locations of The Woodlands Fourth of July activities have been cancelled due to mass gatherings.

“In years past, The Woodlands has had numerous festivities and tremendous events celebrating America’s Independence,” said Township Chairman Gordy Bunch. “We’re in a very unique situation this year but we want to help residents celebrate the Fourth of July in a safe way. Even though things are different this year, it’s still America’s birthday and we’re pleased to offer one of the longest standing traditions in The Woodlands, a community fireworks show, albeit a drive-in show.”

Officials with The Woodlands Township encourage residents planning to see the show in person to practice social distancing refrain from gathering in large groups and continue following all guidelines recommended by the CDC while viewing the fireworks. Spectators should be advised this is a drive-in fireworks display only, and should remain in or around their vehicles. Please no tailgating, tents, tables, glass or parking prior to 8 p.m. Restroom facilities will not be provided, and all trash should be disposed of offsite.

Fireworks will be visible from areas in the immediate vicinity of the college campus, as well as the west side of SH 242 near I-45, including The Woodlands College Park High School and various locations in the College Park Shopping Center. To ensure spectators have the best fireworks visibility possible, teaser shots will be fired at 9:00, 9:10 and 9:20 p.m.This year’s Fourth of July drive-in fireworks display is produced by The Woodlands Township Parks and Recreation Department, presented by St. Luke’s

Health – The Woodlands Hospital and sponsored by The Howard Hughes Corporation®. The Township wishes to thank Lone Star College for hosting the 2020 Fireworks Extravaganza. Please consider supporting local restaurants by ordering to-go prior to the fireworks.

Fireworks Prohibited in The Woodlands Neighborhoods
The Woodlands Township Fire Department reminds all residents that The Woodlands Covenants strictly prohibit the sale or use of fireworks and sparklers of any kind in The Woodlands neighborhoods and parks. The Woodlands is situated in a beautiful forest, and with dry weather conditions and so many trees, one errant spark could severely damage our hometown. Do not put your own property and safety, or that of your friends and neighbors at risk.
