THE WOODLANDS, TX - The Woodlands Township will re-open Riva Row Boat House on Thursday, July 23, 2020. Normal operating hours will be in effect, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., with last boats going out at 7 p.m., closed on Wednesdays only.

Riva Row was temporarily closed due to an employee testing positive for COVID-19 on Monday, July 6, 2020. A significant portion of the boat house staff has been self-quarantined as a precautionary measure following one staff member’s positive COVID-19 test. No other staff members have tested positive during the past two weeks.

Kayaks, paddleboards and water bikes that were moved to Lakes Edge Boat House will be returned to Riva Row on Thursday morning. Riva Row will offer all rental options including new pedal kayaks and the popular swan pedal boats. Lakes Edge will return to offering a select assortment of standard kayaks and paddleboards only, but with more direct access to Lake Woodlands.

The Woodlands Township continues to work diligently to ensure the safety of all residents and visitors to the boat houses, pools, parks and other amenities. Township staff members undergo daily temperature screenings upon reporting to work along with answering a series of questions regarding possible coronavirus exposure and symptoms. At the boat houses, all vessels, equipment and lifejackets are sanitized after every use and high-touch surfaces are cleaned regularly. The boat houses remain cash-free to minimize touch points.

Compliance with Governor Abbott’s mask order is required at the boat houses as social distancing on site is not easily possible. Township staff may refuse service to those not wearing face coverings, for the safety of all involved. Visitors and staff are required to wear a mask or face covering only while on the boat house property, including during check-out, equipping and boarding, and at de-boarding upon return. Staff is unable to physically help patrons into or out of their boats but will give verbal guidance. While on the water and away from others, visitors may enjoy the rest of their outdoor experience sans mask or face covering.

Visitors are encouraged to engage in self-checking before visiting any public area. Self-checking includes monitoring for symptoms such as fever, sore throat, coughing, shortness of breath, congestion and other associated symptoms. While in public places, please wear a face covering or mask, wash your hands frequently and stay at least 6 feet apart from others not in your group. If you suspect COVID-19 exposure, please contact your healthcare professional or your county health department to request a test and limit your contact with others as directed.
