THE WOODLANDS, TX -- A tropical disturbance over the Gulf of Mexico is now a broad low, with an 80 percent chance of developing into a tropical depression or storm over next 2 to 3 days. The center of this storm is expected to reach the Texas coast Friday night or Saturday morning. Watches may be issued for portions of the Texas coast as soon as tonight or early Thursday morning.

The main threat to Southeast Texas will be areas of heavy rain, possible flooding, mainly Friday and Saturday. Montgomery County is expected to receive between 3-5 inches of rain Friday into Saturday. Gusty winds are possible even up to tropical storm force especially near and right the center track, at this time it still remains uncertain. This storm will most likely track toward the Mid-Texas coast but subject to change due to the center of the storm still being somewhat undefined.

Additionally, our office is monitoring Tropical Storm Gonzalo that has formed over the Atlantic. Gonzalo is expected to move near or over the southern Windward Islands this weekend. We are continuing to keep a close watch on Gonzalo as the storm track develops and continues to make its way West. It is important that residents of Montgomery County begin to prepare and keep a close watch on these storms in the Gulf. Our next update is expected around 11 PM tonight.
