THE WOODLANDS, TX -- Statement from Chief Jimmie Dotson, Candidate for The Woodland Board of Directors Position 2:

Thirty years ago, my wife Elsa and I moved to The Woodlands, enthusiastic about being a part of George Mitchell’s vision for an inclusive and welcoming community where neighbors live, work and play together. Our strong belief in the people and promise of The Woodlands, as well as a deep faith and a servant’s heart, has compelled me to run for the Township Board of Directors.

A commitment to service has guided my life. It compelled me to join the Marine Corps and serve in Vietnam, and led me to a 24-year career in law enforcement with the Houston Police Department, as the Chief of Police for the City of Chattanooga, Tennessee, and as Chief of Police of the Houston ISD Police Department. In each of these roles, I learned the importance of demonstrating steady leadership to address challenges, as well as listening and responding to the concerns of neighbors who depend on their leaders to fix problems and make their communities more secure.

In these uncertain times, I would be honored to use my skills and experience on the Township Board of Directors to ensure The Woodlands maintains the highest standards of safety, fiscal discipline, transparency and inclusivity. I love this community, and I am committed to representing my Woodlands neighbors with honor, integrity, and dedication to ensure The Woodlands remain the most unique and best community in America.

May God bless you today,
Jimmie L. Dotson
