Montgomery County COVID-19 Update for August 18, 2020

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX – Montgomery County Public Health District, in conjunction with the Montgomery County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, can very sadly confirm an additional death related to COVID-19, bringing the total to 98.

A man in his 70s, from Porter, died in the hospital. He had co-morbidities in addition to testing positive for COVID-19. We offer our condolences to his family at this difficult time.

We can also confirm:

· TOTAL cases of COVID-19 increased by 167 to 7,327 since yesterday’s report.
· ACTIVE cases of COVID-19 decreased by 237 to 1,099 since yesterday’s report. On Tuesdays, we factor in additional cases we have been unable to contact for more than 30 days. That represents 281 additional “inactive” cases today.
· 54 residents are known to be in the hospital, as a result of contact investigations. Contact investigations have not been initiated on all reported cases.
· 5,240 people have clinically recovered.
