Update from Conroe ISD: Instructional Option, Screening, and Network

CONROE, TX -- Instructional Option Selection:

The 2nd Grading Period begins on October 13, 2020. Parents wishing to change their child’s instructional option (Remote/Online to In-Person or In-Person to Remote/Online) for the 2nd Grading Period should contact their campus registrar no later than Monday, September 28, by 8 AM. This will allow the campus time to make needed schedule changes. If there has been no contact from a parent/guardian, no changes will be made to the studentâ??s instructional method.

Student Screeners:

An essential element in helping slow the spread of COVID-19 at school is each parent’s commitment to screening their child daily for symptoms. In addition to the screening information posted on the Roadmap to Reopening website, parents can now complete the screening process for their student(s) in Parent Access Center. A copy of the current screening process which outlines the symptoms can also be found here. Parents are asked to keep any student exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 at home and notify the campus.

Network Issues:

Last week, the District began experiencing network issues that impacted phone and internet service throughout the day. After working extensively with hardware engineers, it is now believed that these disruptions are not due to a malfunctioning piece of equipment but rather an attack on our network from an outside source designed to overwhelm our network with volume. No student or employee data was accessed. Similar attacks have occurred across the country, including an area district a few weeks ago. Adjustments and hardware additions have been made to our system to mitigate the impact to our phones and internet, and the matter is being investigated by law enforcement agencies.
