THE WOODLANDS, TX -- At 2:30 this afternoon Engine 109 was dispatched to a reported commercial vehicle fire at the CVS Distribution Center located at 16597 S IH 45. While responding E 109 reported a large column of smoke and requested additional units. On arrival Engine 109 reported 2 semi trailers on fire with multiple others threatened. The trailers were parked back to back and side by side with little room between. Crews had to work hard to access and open up the trailers to extinguish the fire. This was exacerbated by the fact that inside the trailers on fire were either paper goods or cardboard waste. The fire involved the contents of 4 trailers. 2 ladder trucks and 4 engines worked for an hour to get the fire under control but final extinguishment will likely take several more hours as the trucks have to be unloaded and their cargo pulled out and extinguished. TWFD was assisted by Conroe Fire Department and Needham Fire & Rescue/ Montgomery County ESD#4 as well as Montgomery County Hospital District. There are no reported injuries and Montgomery County Fire Marshal's Office is investigating cause of fire.
