THE WOODLANDS, TX - The Touchdown Club of Houston recognized two from The John Cooper School as finalists at their 9th Annual Private High School Awards Dinner on Jan. 27. Dragon senior linebacker Jake Peterson, a University of Pennsylvania commit, was one of six finalists nominated for Ironman of the Year honors while Head Football Coach Erik DeHaven was one of five finalists for Coach of the Year.

'It is an honor for both Jake and Coach DeHaven to be recognized by The Touchdown Club for their accomplishment this year,' said John Hoye, Director of Athletics at The John Cooper School. 'Obviously it is a credit to their success last fall, but it speaks to their continued work over the past couple of years, which put them in this position.'

The annual event and dinner recognized finalists in five categories–Lineman of the Year, Ironman of the Year, Coach of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, Offensive Player of the Year, and Special Teams Player of the Year. The players are selected by a blue-ribbon committee of area high school coaches while the coaches are selected by a blue-ribbon committee of area athletic directors.
