Pageant for Girls at Treehouse is Confidence Builder

CONROE, TX - This last week on Super Bowl Sunday, thirteen young girls in residence at The Treehouse Center were given a party just for them at the North Montgomery County Community Center in Willis by Caring Queens. Caring Queens is a volunteer organization working with underprivileged young girls to enrich their personal confidence and development through pageantry.

The Treehouse girls included in the pageant ranged in age from 6 to 12 years of age and each received time on stage to walk and speak, was adorned with a crown, a handmade sash with their name on it and a formal gown to their color and style preference to keep. Pageant queens from throughout the country got involved by donating their gowns and crowns worn in past pageants to the girls. In addition, nine titled pageant girls ages 4 to 14 performed and assisted on stage during the event.

The Treehouse Center is a residential home niched in a neighborhood near River Plantation in Conroe serving young girls 5-14 years of age with a safe place to live until they are stable enough to go back to living with their parents or eligible for adoption. The Treehouse Center provides an individualized structured residential program to assist troubled girls in achieving a productive daily life, free from abuse, delinquency, substance abuse and neglect. The Treehouse Center can accommodate up to 25 girls in the center.

Kathleen Tanner is one of the co-founders of The Treehouse Center. “I was so impressed with the production of the pageant! It was executed as professional as any pageant I have seen on TV. Our girls had a beautiful once in a lifetime experience, they will never forget! Caring Queens created a superb event exceeding all expectations, including the girls!”

The event was organized and created by Celia Smith, a registered nurse and guru of pageants since she was 8 years old in the Philippines. Celia and her daughter, Lilliana 6, have won several pageants together as Mommy and Me, and independently. Lilliana has competed in over 24 pageants since she was 2 and holds two National level titles. In November they both went to The Treehouse Center to donate clothing and decided they wanted to do more for the girls. That is when Celia decided to organize pageant girls from across the state to pull the event together for the girls to allow them to “Shine”.

Emcee for the event Angel Jameson, resides in Houston and attends Sam Houston State University working towards a master’s in communication. She is a member of the Speakers Committee for the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo and a pageant director of Heart of Gold, a nonprofit pageant program focused on community involvement, personal growth, and leadership.

The resident girls received glamour treatment by a team of ladies helping with hair an make-up: Glammed by Sweet Jess, The Link Studio, Redefined Brows, Great Hair Day, Texas Couture Hair, and the Willis High School Cosmetology Class.

Charm Thai Bistro, Noe’s Crepes, Coffee, and Tea, and Moore of Everything donated food bites and beverages for the guests attending the event.

The chatter coming from the girls after the event would bring tears to anyone.

“I can’t believe I got to go on stage and people listened to me”
“Can I keep the crown?”
“This makes me feel so special”

It was the perfect afternoon for the girls at The Treehouse Center.
