Winter Weather Alert - Mark Keough County Judge - CenterPoint Update - 9:43am, 2/16

The Woodlands, TX - CenterPoint update: Finally able to get an update from CenterPoint. CenterPoint is within the ERCOT Texas Grid and is required to throttle back energy consumption in their service territory due to overwhelming demand for power in the Texas ERCOT Grid. In Montgomery County only CenterPoint is in the ERCOT grid.

As of right now CenterPoint has more than 1 million customers in the Houston region including Montgomery County without power. A little over 60,000 customers are without power due to storm related damage that is not part of the the required reduction in load that ERCOT has required.

As ERCOT brings on more power generation CenterPoint expects to bring more customers online. They warned that further generation losses in the ERCOT system would result in negative impacts on their system causing additional outages.
With the statewide demand for power very high right now there was not timeline given on when CenterPoint expects full power restoration.
