The Woodlands Fire Department Responds to Structure Fire at Avana Sterling Ridge Apartments

THE WOODLANDS, TX -- At 11:25pm The Woodlands Fire Department responded to the Avana Sterling Ridge Apartments 6900 Lake Woodlands Drive for a reported structure fire. Engine 105 arrived and reported fire showing from the roof of building 16. Crews made an aggressive interior attack and were able to confine to the attic area. A second alarm was called at 1151pm and the fire was brought under control at 0020. Building 16 had a total of 28 apartments. Two apartments had fire damage, two with fire control and four others with water damage. Because of the structural damage to the attic and the fact that power was cut to the building we had to displace approximately 50 people. Fire cause is under investigation but it appears to have originated in the attic. The Woodlands Fire Department was assisted by South Montgomery County Fire Department Montgomery County Hospital District Needham Fire & Rescue/ Montgomery County ESD#4 and Timberlakes Volunteer Fire Department.
