The Woodlands Fire Department Assists Other Agencies in Battling Fire Threatening Multiple Structures

SPRING, TX -- Just after noon today The Woodlands Fire Department responded to assist South Montgomery County Fire Department with a reported explosion and fire in the 2100 Block of Old Ox Road south of Rayford. The first arriving units reported that two buildings of a four building residential complex were on fire with the fire threatening the other structures. A 2nd alarm was requested as firefighters started their attack. Command transitioned to a defensive firefight as one of the buildings became unstable and later collapsed. Firefighters were challenged by a lack of water supply necessitating a water tanker shuttle from almost a mile away. A third alarm was called for manpower relief. One person was examined by Montgomery County Hospital District for burn injuries. MCHD assisted with three units providing rehab to firefighters. Other departments that assisted included Timberlakes Volunteer Fire Dept Needham Fire & Rescue/ Montgomery County ESD#4 Spring Fire Department. Porter Fire and East Montgomery County. Montgomery County Fire Marshal's Office is on scene working on fire investigation.
