THE WOODLANDS, TX -- Repairs will begin Wednesday, August 18, after a slow leak was detected in the San Jacinto River Authority's 30-inch surface water transmission line located along Research Forest Drive near New Trails Drive in The Woodlands.

All eastbound lanes on Research Forest Drive between Technology Forest Drive and New Trails Drive will be closed during the repairs, which could take up to several weeks. Alternate routes should be used when possible.

The SJRA transmission line serves The Woodlands, Rayford Road MUD, Southern Montgomery County MUD, Oak Ridge North, and MUD 99with treated surface water from Lake Conroe. It was taken offline Monday at 4 p.m. to begin investigation and assessment. However, no service interruption for homes or businesses is expected because all of the affected utilities have backup groundwater supplies. SJRA, repair contractors, and Montgomery County Precinct 3 will be on-site throughout the repair.

The eastbound lanes of Research Forest Drive will be closed beginning Wednesday, August 18, at 9 a.m. from Technology Forest Drive to New Trails Drive. Traffic control will be in place. Drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes and avoid the area as much as possible.

SJRA and its contractor will work as quickly as possible to repair the leak and restore traffic flow, including 24-hour work schedules and expedited material deliveries.
