SPRING, TX -- On September 6, 2021, at about 1:35 AM, Deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a trespassing in progress at the CubeSmart storage facility located at 1310 Rayford Road in Spring, Texas. The owner of the business lives on location and heard noises not common during nighttime hours and went outside to find dollies loaded with televisions and other various items outside a storage unit.

Responding Deputies arrived on location and discovered a portion of the business’ fence was cut, allowing access to the property. Sheriff’s Office Deputies and Constables with Montgomery County Precinct 3, set up a perimeter, and a Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit and a DPS helicopter unit were deployed for the search. During the search, two males were located hiding in an open storage unit and were detained. Detectives with the Sheriff’s Office responded to assist with the investigation.

The investigation revealed the males forced entry into multiple storage units and removed items from those units in an attempt to steal them. The suspects, identified as John Wunsche and David Freeze, were arrested and transported to the Montgomery County Jail where they were charged with three counts of Burglary to a Building.

We thank Montgomery County Pct. 3 Constable and Texas Department of Public Safety - Southeast Texas Region for their assistance in the apprehension of these suspects.
