MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX -- On September 16-17, 2021, members of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Organized Crime Unit and the Human Trafficking Rescue Alliance completed an operation regarding Human Trafficking and “Buyers of Illicit Sex” in the central Montgomery County area.

On September 1, 2021, a new law went into effect making Texas the first state to change the crime of Solicitation of Prostitution from a Class B Misdemeanor to a State Jail Felony. As a result of the operation, thirteen adult men were arrested and charged with Solicitation of Prostitution after agreeing to pay for sex from Undercover Officers. One of the males arrested was also charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance. Additionally, the operation recovered two potential sex trafficking victims and identified one possible sex trafficker.

The Human Trafficking Rescue Alliance is a multi-agency task force comprised of Federal, State, and Local Law Enforcement from our region with a common mission: to rescue victims of human trafficking and to stop people from engaging in activities that promote human trafficking. We are proud to be a part of the Human Trafficking Rescue Alliance, an Alliance that sends a clear message that this type of activity in our community will not be tolerated. Furthermore, we hope this effort will continue to deter the demand and rescue those forced into sex trafficking.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Organized Crime Unit & MOCONET, Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office, Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission, Houston Police Department, and other members of the Human Trafficking Rescue Alliance participated in this operation.
