THE WOODLANDS, TX -- On Saturday, October 2, several teams of dedicated women of all ages spent the day crafting special bags that were subsequently handed out to women diagnosed with breast cancer at MD Anderson of The Woodlands for their chemotherapy treatment.

The Magnolias Chapter of the National Charity League is a group of mothers and daughters who have come together in a commitment to community service, leadership development and cultural experiences.

“As we bid farewell to the Summer, we welcomed the cooler weather and all the opportunities that the fall brings,” said Sonia Katz of the Magnolias’ Bag Bee Committee. “October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, and The Magnolias showed our support for women facing the disease by calling our members to be a part of our annual chapter wide Bag Bee event.”

Ninety beautifully embroidered, lined-in pink-bags were created by teams of ladies working in shifts, with another 31 having been crafted at another recent event. “MD Anderson tells us that women LOVE these bags that allow them to tote their tablet, water bottle, blanket, and books when they seek treatment,” said Katz.

Members of NCL, Inc. The Magnolias reside in South Montgomery County, Texas. Like all NCL, Inc. chapters, the Magnolias aim to foster the mother-daughter relationship by serving its communities together.
