WEATHER UPDATE: Tornado Warning and Strong Thunderstorms

THE WOODLANDS, TX -- The National Weather Service continues its steady stream of weather updates for The Woodlands area. Currently, a Tornado Warning has been issued for East Montgomery County - stretching into Liberty County - with Porter Heights, Huffman, and New Caney under alert until 9:30 am. The areas currently under the warning can also expect the possibility of pea-sized hail. The previously issued Tornado Warning for Northern Harris County/Southern Montgomery County expired at 8:45 this morning.

Additionally, a significant line of strong thunderstorms is coming through The Woodlands area, bringing with it heavy winds and rain. Lightning strikes have been observed in both Conroe and the Bush Intercontinental Airport areas, effectively framing the reach of Woodlands Online.

A Tornado Watch has also been issued for The Woodlands area until 4:00 this afternoon. With a Tornado Watch, tornadoes are possible in and near the watch area. Review and discuss your emergency plans and check supplies and your safe room. Be ready to act quickly if a warning is issued or you suspect a tornado is approaching.
