THE WOODLANDS, TX – As Friday draws to a work-week close in The Woodlands and the weekend nears, it’s time to keep those heavy coats ready for the next few days, and the blankets for the nights.

Brace for another couple of nights of freezing lows

Today has been overcast and cold, definitely casting a pall over our lives in preparation for the weekend. Our high temperature today struggled to keep a degree above freezing, and by the time most of us get home from work tonight it’ll have crossed that threshold. For the next few hours, the temperature will flip-flop a degree or two on either side of 32, but later tonight and into the morning we’ll definitely be on the wrong side of the thermometer and in a hard freeze. For the next couple of nights, you would be well advised to keep your pipes wrapped, your plants shrouded, and your faucets dripping.

By Saturday morning, the cloud cover will have dropped to practically nil, and we can enjoy some brisk, sunny weather with highs managing to hit the low 50s. As stated above, however, the subfreezing temperatures will return tomorrow night.

Sunday and Monday will be clones of each other; partly sunny skies with highs in the mid to upper 50s and lows above freezing but still firmly entrenched in the 30s. Look for the winds to pick up Monday afternoon, as well.

The good news is, for the remainder of the week, we will be in the perfect “winter weather” mode; bright skies, high temperatures in the 60s, and lows in the 30s and 40s, enough to keep the more convulsing of the chills away during the day.

By this time next week, our high temperatures will flirt with breaking 70 – and will succeed in doing so over next weekend – with lows planted in the 40s. For the next seven days at least, there’s not a lick of rain in the forecast, making the roads a tad safer during the freezing nights.

Keep tuned in to Woodlands Online Weather for additional updates, especially during the freezing moments.
