THE WOODLANDS, TX – Quote of the week: “Listen to the rhythm of the falling rains.” – The Cascades

It may be a shot week, but it's long on fun!

It’s a wet week with high temperatures all over the weather map: warm and wet in the 80s or cold and wet in the 50s, it’s definitely a week to plan your activities closely. Fortunately, Woodlands Online has some great ideas for you.

Okay, this is an event that the collective kid in us here at Woodlands Online is truly excited about. The Adventure Begins hosts its twice-monthly Bring Your Own Board Game Night tonight! The name of the event says it all: the adventure crew invites you to dig through your old closets and haul out your favorite old board games, then schlep on down to their amazing space on FM 1488 for a free evening of Trouble, Sorry, Battleship, or a gazillion other possibilities!

There’s a new ice house on Pruitt Road that certainly ain’t your Papa’s (see what we did there?). Open for only a few short weeks, Sawyer Park Icehouse is already rocking the area. Tonight, country chanteuse Kate Watson will be singing in a free concert hosted by the covered-yet-open air bar. Grab a bucket of brews and enjoy the show!

Humans are tactile; while “seeing might be believing,” we always like our sense of touch to back up our eyes. That, combined with the little kid inside all of us that loves big trucks, makes The Woodlands Township’s Touch-a-Truck event today all the more fulfilling. Get up close and personal with all kinds of big trucks, off-road mudders, various first responder vehicles, and more, happening at The Recreation Center at Rob Fleming Park.

There’s been some amazing stage-theatre this month, and today is your last chance to catch two great shows in particular. Class Act Productions presents the classic Rodgers & Hammerstein musical Oklahoma! at their facility on Budde Road. This show should’ve been named Texas!, however, because of its themes of cowboys, farmers, romance and fearless optimism. Meanwhile, up in Conroe, Stage Right at the Historic Crighton Theatre is presenting its final performance of The Drowsy Chaperone, a unique show that’s a comedy about a musical set in the 1920s, with all the roaring spectacle from that time period. Both of these Sunday performances are afternoon matinees, so you’ll get out fully entertained and fully ready for dinner.
