BRYAN, TX -- The Texas Tennis Coaches Association (TTCA) will host the inaugural TTCA Private School Team Tennis Championship March 4-5 at multiple sites in Bryan and College Station.

Nine high school teams are divided into three groups and will compete in a round-robin format March 4. The following day, the groups will be divided into Champion, Runner-up, and Third Place (Red Group); Fourth, Fifth, and Sixth Place (Blue Group); and Seventh, Eighth, and Ninth Place (Gray Group), depending on their round-robin results.

Group 1, which opens at A&M Consolidated High School in College Station, consists of The Woodlands The John Cooper School, Fort Worth Nolan Catholic High School, and Abilene Christian Schools.

In Group 2, at College Station High School, the teams are Houston St. John’s School, Plano John Paul II High School, and San Antonio Antonian College Preparatory School.

Group 3, at Bryan High School, has a combined team of Houston Strake Jesuit College Preparatory (boys) and St. Agnes Academy School (girls). Austin St. Stephen’s Episcopal School and Tyler All Saints Episcopal School complete the third group of teams.

Each dual match consists of 13 matches: two boys doubles, two girls doubles, and one mixed doubles, followed by four boys singles, and four girls singles.

Competition is open to all private schools in Texas. The Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS) has a team competition, open only to its members, that is held in Waco during the fall season. Each TAPPS dual match is divided into nine singles and doubles matches.

The complete Private School Team Tennis Championship draw and results are available on the TTCA website, at www.texastenniscoaches.com. Live individual match results may be obtained at https://ioncourt.com/leagues/2022-ttca-private, provided by iOnCourt.

The TTCA will host two other team championships this spring, including the Class 3A & Under Team Tennis Championship, to be held March 11-12. The two sites are the Northside Tennis Center in Helotes, and the Anne Marie Tennis Center in San Antonio. The Class 1A Team Tennis Championship is slated for March 11-12 at San Antonio’s Blossom Tennis Center. The University Interscholastic League (UIL) does not conduct team tennis championships for Class 3A and lower, and the TTCA gives the squads the opportunity to compete in dual matches.

The mission of the TTCA, headquartered in Bryan, is to encourage and develop tennis as part of the curriculum and athletic programs in public and private schools in the state of Texas.
