THE WOODLANDS, TX – The Howard Hughes Corporation celebrated the impending arrival of the new Memorial Hermann Primary Care Clinic on Research Forest in the Shenandoah with a groundbreaking ceremony.

Memorial Hermann CEO: “It’s a good marriage of commercial and residential, and the perfect execution of George Mitchell’s plan.”

Community luminaries from Howard Hughes and Memorial Hermann, along with Shenandoah mayor Ritch Wheeler and other community leaders, braved the cold, windy weather to attend the event with shovels in hand.

Leased by Memorial Hermann Medical Group The Woodlands, the 20,000-square-foot, build-to-suit clinic will be situated on 3.6 acres at 1890 Research Forest Drive in Shenandoah, practically walking distance from The Woodlands Medical Center. The new clinic will help meet the growing demand for quality healthcare in the area.

“This is the latest link in the chain to provide additional needed healthcare services to Woodlands area residents,” said Jim Carman, President, Houston Region for The Howard Hughes Corporation. “This is a growing industry, with all types of medical services becoming more prominent in our community. Memorial Hermann has been a tremendous partner to this community and to The Howard Hughes Corporation, and we’re excited to deliver this project.”

Justin Kendrick, the CEO of Memorial Hermann – The Woodlands Medical Center and Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital, also expressed optimism at this most recent addition to the “family” of healthcare facilities and hospitals in the area.

“I think it’s a good marriage of commercial and residential, and it’s the perfect execution of George Mitchell’s plan,” said Kendrick. “I think one thing that has allowed us to continue to operate at the top of our profession – and you see the complexity of the services that we offer here – is that this area really attracts very talented clinicians. This is a wonderful place for them to raise their families as well as operate and practice at a facility in a system that is good for them both professionally and personally. So we want to continue to do all that we can to raise the service complexities and continue to grow our services so that people won’t have to travel so many miles through so many congested freeways, but who can remain and receive all their services through us, and still remain close to home as much as possible.”

Rachelle Guerra, Vice President of Physician Practice Operations for Memorial Hermann, predicts significant next steps in this ongoing relationship. “We’re so excited to be able to double our footprint here and be able to support the community as it has grown over the last few years, and to be able to provide great primary care and speciality services and connections to Memorial Hermann,” she said. “What’s next is continued growth and looking for more opportunities to serve the community and expand our services, extend our hours, and be available to patients when they need us.”

Memorial Hermann Primary Care Clinic is a welcome inclusion to the continued advancement of medicine and need for health services in Montgomery County and The Woodlands. Offering endocrinology, sports medicine, virtual medicine, lab services and primary care, the clinic will anchor the next future phase of development of an additional 5.4 acres of retail, with convenient access along the major thoroughfare of Research Forest near I-45.

According to The Woodlands Area Economic Development Partnership’s survey of 2022 major employers in The Woodlands, healthcare tops the list with 30% of the community employed within the industry. Along with Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Medical Center, The Woodlands region is home to a total of six major medical providers including CHI St. Luke’s Health - The Woodlands Hospital and CHI St. Luke’s Health - Lakeside Hospital, Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital, Texas Children’s Hospital The Woodlands and the cancer treatment center, MD Anderson The Woodlands.
